What is Smyrna Pride?

  • The Positive Behavior support Program is a national program overseen in Delaware by a collaboration of the Delaware Department of Education and the University of Delaware Center for Disabilities Studies. In the Smyrna School District, the Smyrna Pride program emphasizes a school-wide system of support that includes proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behavior to create positive school environments.

How does it work?

  • Students are taught a series of lessons on behavior.
Lessons are reinforced throughout the year and taught more than once.
Positive behavior is reinforced using a reward system.
As students earn rewards, negative behaviors decrease changing the school atmosphere.
